    iRig Mic?

So I'm just getting started in this podcasting thing. I just ordered the iRig Mic since they just released today and I own the iRig for my guitar and it works great. This new mic is a condenser and I hear those are better for vocals and more sensitive. Plus just using my iPhone and the iRig Mic with a mic stand seems like a simple no nonsense set up. What do you think? I'll be recording in their free VocaLive app that does 1 track recording. If I want more tracks I can upgrade to the normal version and get the 4 track upgrade if I need it. Do you think it'll be good for podcasting?

I got the iRig Mic for podcasting from local events. The mic provides its own power, so it doesn't drain your battery, and has excellent quality. I haven't had any issues with recording for a few hours as long as my iPhone is charged. You can charge your iPhone while you use the iRig Mic, too, so that's not a problem anyways if you have access to an outlet.

It has 3 sensitivity settings, which are very useful. There is one that sounds like a -20dB pad, a normal setting, and one that sounds amplified and compressed. This last one is good for picking up a whole room, or recording quiet sounds from a distance. I would recommend it, I think it will suit your needs well too.

    Hope this is helpful.

Awesome! So if I wanted I could leave it on the amplified setting and record everyone in a room? That sounds sweet!

Yep. I just used it to record a round table discussion with an audience Q&A session. It picked up everything quite nicely.

Looks like an interesting mic. Which one of you owns the website?

I don't own it I just thought it would be good. I got it in though and it sounds way clearer than I thought it would. WAY better than the built in mic.
