I just got a Mac Mini and my sites don't look the same on a Mac as they do a PC, so I decided to check my analytics to see how the ratio of Mac to PC is doing since I hadn't looked at that particular stat in about a year.
I was shocked (pleasantly) to see that Internet Explorer and Firefox are actually mostly neck in neck and that on some sites Firefox is in the lead! Both hover around 35-40%.
Safari, Chrome and Smart phone browsers take up the few percentages left.
Then I looked at Operating System stats and saw that Windows is dropping from the 80-90% I used to see, to around 70-80% with Mac around 15-20%
The next surprise is that iPhones, iPads, and Androids each command about 1% and Blackberry around .5 to .75%
The one exception is Affiliate ABCs where I have an iPhone app. That site is 12% iPhone. I think there is something to think about there. That site is 70/15/12 with iPad, Android and Blackberry each around 1%.
Time to start using those browser and OS compatibility sites to see how your sites look and function on smart phones and tablets! If you have any recommendations for those sites, please post them for us all to see and use.
