The subtitle of the book sums it up well: “How to Use More than 100 Secrets of Ad-Agency Psychology to Make Big Money Selling Anything to Anyone.”

There are a lot of practical tips on how to persuade consumers to purchase goods and services.

Some things Whitman shares in the book:

  • 60% of people read only your headline and what to do about it
  • Captions under photos get 200% greater readership than non-headline copy
  • Ads with sale prices draw 20% more attention
  • To double your ad’s attention-getting value, you must enlarge it 400%
  • Four-color ads are up to 45% more effective than black and white
There is a good synopsis of Cashvertising on the Wicked Fire forum, which led to my buying and reading it.

I thought Cashvertising was so useful that we booked author Drew Eric Whitman to keynote Affiliate Summit West 2011, taking place January 9-11, 2011 at Wynn Las Vegas.

I started creating forums back in 2003 I believe, and before that, I ran a bulletin board out of my house in 1996 for a year. (Ran "Renegade")

Like most forum newbies, I started with a free forum hoster called InvisionFree. It ran a modified version of IPB. I can't remember the tv show I made it about, but that's all I did for a while. I eventually found a forum on the same platform for the show LOST, since I had one for ALIAS, both directed by JJ Abrams.

I soon became an admin there and the founder eventually left it to me. I started looking around for some help on running forums when I found AdminFusion. I wasn't there two weeks before I applied for the newly opened Admin position. Needless to say I was hired and grew with the community. I wasn't familiar with vB but it didn't take me long to get the hang of things. I especially liked the reputation system. :whoo:

Now fast forward to 2010 and I am now here running ForumAdminDojo.com with my good friend and colleague, James Seligman.
